Outpatient Pharmacy Assistant
Department: Pharmacy
Band 2 to 3 or Band 3 (£25,272 - £27,476 per annum)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
It is an exciting time to join the pharmacy team at MKUH as we are continually growing in size and influence. We have recently undergone a major departmental refurbishment which included the installation of a new Pharmacy Robot and Controlled Drugs automated cabinet, the opening a new Pharmacy and Aseptic Unit in our Cancer Centre and the opening of a new Outpatient Pharmacy. Our services are being developed to ensure that every patient receives safe, high quality care as our patients are at the heart of everything that we do.
"We care We communicate We collaborate We contribute"
Please note that we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
Interview date: W/C 12 November 2026
Main duties of the job
To support this, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pharmacy Assistant to be part of our outpatient pharmacy team. Initially providing dispensing services to our busy outpatient department, the post will provide a mix of clinical and commercial activities as we develop our services to outpatients and the Trust.
Working in the reception area you will be the first point of contact for our patients so having excellent communication and people skills is essential alongside the commitment to provide the best patient-centered care. You will be organised with a can-do approach and have the ability to adapt quickly to new situations.
If you are successful, you will work in a supportive and forward-thinking environment where you will be encouraged with your professional and personal development.
This post is offered on Band 3 or on a Band 2 progressing to a Band 3 on successful completion of NVQ level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills and suitable performance.
About us
Milton Keynes University Hospital, in proud partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital committed to advancing patient care through cutting-edge research and education. With a "Good" rating from the CQC and significant investment underway, this is an exciting time to join our team and grow your career.
As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. As the population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, we are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.
We are also proud to offer a growing portfolio of specialist services. In January 2025 we opened our state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre. We have just opened the Oak Wards - a new ward block featuring two 24-bed wards.
Further investment is underway, including the recently approved Women and Children's Centre, set to open by 2030.

The FIND Team is managed within the Secure Services directorate in Devon Partnership NHS Trust. This role is in the FIND team which is based in the Community Forensic Services (CFS). The CFS is comprised of three teams including the Specialist Community Forensic team (SCFT), FIND and the Forensic Personality Disorder service (FPDs). This is an exciting opportunity to join our FIND team at one of the country's most respected providers of secure mental health services.
FIND aims to reduce length of stay for secure care patients with a primary diagnosis of Learning Disability (LD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and reduce the use of out of area or specialist placements in order to support / facilitate the use of South West network beds. This involves the development of a structured approach of direct work with patients (e.g. intervention, specialist assessment, case management) as well as indirect work with staff teams (e.g. consultation, training, supervision).
- The scheduled interview date is 23rd November 2026
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a core member of a multi-disciplinary FIND service, and will be responsible for taking an active role in carrying out the functions of that team; including carrying a case load of varying complexity, with a principle focus on service users who would benefit most from an specialist forensic LD and A intervention. The post holder will provide expert assessment and treatment for people with complex difficulties and their carers. This will include recovery care co-ordination (design and co-ordination of treatment packages that are personalised and evaluated).
The post holder will deliver care management, assessment, care planning, review and evaluation. The liaison with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies is central to this role. The post holder will contribute to the clinical leadership of the team, providing supervision for other members and participating in team and service development, and evaluation.
You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.
Working as part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, you will make a difference to peoples lives from the moment you start.
