This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals pharmacy department as an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist, in Vascular Surgery and Diabetes.

This established post, part of the Adult pharmacy team based at Leeds General Infirmary (with cross site networking), is well integrated into the vascular MDT and provides leadership for the vascular pharmacy service for both inpatients and outpatients from Leeds and Mid-Yorkshire. Working alongside medical staff, nursing teams, advanced practitioners and national experts you will deliver high-quality, patient centred care to complex vascular, major arterial and trauma patents.

You will work closely with other specialist teams including diabetes and the diabetes nurse specialists, microbiology, acute pain, lipid clinic, anticoagulation and renal. Collaboration with pharmacy colleagues in same team responsible for other clinical specialities - Cardiology, Neurosciences and Trauma Related Services - provides mutual support and shared expertise.

The role offers numerous education & training opportunities include supervision and training of trainee pharmacists and junior rotational pharmacists, teaching medical and other MDT staff. You will promote evidence-based, safe and cost-effective use of medicines by working collaboratively with the MDT on the vascular surgery ward.

• GPhC registration and a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy, or equivalent experience or qualification.

You will be joining a team of pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technicians rotating around each LTHT site and you will meet a wide range of people from lots of different backgrounds. Working closely with your fellow trainee pharmacy technicians and multi-disciplinary teams you will gain valuable knowledge and skills along the way.

Your duties will include working in our hospital inpatient and outpatient pharmacies, dispensing prescriptions and issuing prescribed items, contributing to all aspects of pharmaceutical stock control.

You will gain experience working on the hospital inpatient wards, delivering pharmacy ward-based services including taking patient medication histories and educating patients on their medicines. The Radiological Physics and Radiation Protection Service is a small, friendly and supportive team within the Oncology CSU. We are expanding to support the continued growth and development of our services, creating exciting opportunities for new team members to contribute and develop alongside us.

The main duties of this role are performing routine and unplanned quality assurance checks on x-ray equipment across our own Trust and for our external customers. The post holder will also assist with technical support for the patient dose management software and will be involved with the process of decommissioning and disposing of medical equipment.

Other regular duties include investigations relating to staff radiation doses, logging and triaging incoming work, function testing of test equipment and support for the radiographer QA programme.

You will be joining a team of pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technicians rotating around each LTHT site and you will meet a wide range of people from lots of different backgrounds. Working closely with your fellow trainee pharmacy technicians and multi-disciplinary teams you will gain valuable knowledge and skills along the way.

Your duties will include working in our hospital inpatient and outpatient pharmacies, dispensing prescriptions and issuing prescribed items, contributing to all aspects of pharmaceutical stock control.

You will gain experience working on the hospital inpatient wards, delivering pharmacy ward-based services including taking patient medication histories and educating patients on their medicines. There will also be placements within other MMPS departments with a possibility of visiting other pharmacy organisations external to LTHT.

The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a dietitian to join our specialist Liver Dietetic Team for 12 months at 0.6 WTE, providing maternity cover.

Our liver dietitians work with patients across the hepatology and liver transplant pathway, supporting people with complex nutritional needs before and after transplantation as well as those requiring specialist inpatient and outpatient dietetic care.

Working alongside experienced specialist dietitians and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in the nutritional management of complex liver disease. The role will involve assessing and managing patients with a range of nutritional needs, including malnutrition, sarcopenia, nutrition support and complications associated with advanced liver disease

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, compassionate and keen to develop. You will need good clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will manage a varied specialist caseload across hepatology and liver transplantation, working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based nutritional care. Ker responsibilities will include:

Assess nutritional status and develop individualised nutrition care plans for patients with malnutrition, sarcopenia and complex nutritional requirements.

Provide evidence-based management of nutrition-related complications of advanced liver disease, including ascites and hepatic encephalopathy.

Assess and support patients undergoing liver transplant assessment and provide specialist nutritional care following transplantation.

Assess requirements for and manage oral nutrition support, enteral feeding and other complex nutrition support as appropriate.

Contribute to specialist hepatology and liver transplant outpatient pathways, including multidisciplinary working.

Work closely with hepatologists, transplant teams, nursing staff, pharmacists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated patient care.

Prioritise and manage a specialist caseload, recognising and escalating patients at nutritional or clinical risk.

Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to clinical governance, audit and service improvement within the liver dietetic service.

The role of new born hearing screener sits within the new born hearing screening team, which is part of the Audiology Department within the Head and Neck CSU. It has strong links with Maternity services and the wider antenatal and new born screening programmes. The role is based in both Leeds General Infirmary and St James Hospital, where you will be screening primarily on the inpatient wards, delivery suite and neonatal units as well as outpatient clinics within the hospital. The service operates over 7 days per week, including weekends and bank holidays. We are looking for a confident, articulate person to join our team of hearing screeners in Leeds. The role involves offering and carrying out hearing screening in all new borns born or resident in Leeds, including obtaining informed consent, carrying out the screening test, giving results, explaining ongoing surveillance or referral, uploading electronic results and completing administrative tasks related to the programme. The majority of screening is carried out on the post natal wards, where you will be part of a team but working individually with families. The role is very rewarding and the team is very supportive.

On commencement you will be required to work full time for the first 2 weeks in order to undertake training for the role.

Our team consists of 10 hearing screeners, 2 senior screeners and a local programme manager. Half of the team have been in post since the programme started in Leeds in 2004, so there is lots of experience within the team, and the team are very supportive of each other. Team members are always available to lend a helping hand if needed and are very happy to do so. The screeners are very proud of our extremely family friendly service and go above and beyond to achieve this. Teamwork is a top priority within the service. There are peaks and troughs throughout the working week and the team really pull together if it is busy to ensure all of the babies are offered screening, which makes it a high performing service we are proud of.

You will need to have excellent communication skills in order to gain informed consent from a variety of people from a variety of backgrounds, using clear and accurate explanation adapted to the service users needs, and delivered with empathy and patience.

You will have an ability to use information technology (after training) to upload test results and perform failsafe activities at the end of the day.

The Newborn Hearing Screening service is based in St James Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary (Clarendon Wing) and provides hearing screening to all babies born or living in the Leeds area within the first 3 months of life. We are looking for a motivated, conscientious individual with a flexible, adaptable approach to join our established team of screeners. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required preferably with experience of working with young babies and children. The post requires being able to work well as part of a team and also on your own initiative. You must be methodical and well organised and it is essential for you to be able to prioritise your own workload to ensure that all babies are screened. The Radiotherapy department located at St James Hospital Leeds is the biggest single site Radiotherapy centre in the UK. We are a dynamic department that offers innovative and progressive radiotherapy treatment using Linear accelerators, CT Sim, MRSim, Gamma Knife and Brachytherapy. . We at Leeds Children's have received substantive funding provided by NHS England to enhance our neonatal and neurodevelopmental Physiotherapy service. The successful candidates will be joining an established team of experienced physiotherapists covering the Leeds Neonatal Units and Neurodevelopmental follow up within outpatient and clinic settings, providing highly specialised care to support the management of high-risk babies from preterm to 2 years.

We are looking for Physiotherapists with:

• Significant post registration experience of at least 5 years within Paediatric physiotherapy.
• Broad experience within the acute paediatric settings.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of specialist neonatal physiotherapy support within the model of Family Integrated Care to infants and families across both Neonatal Units within Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Our Neonatal Unit at Leeds General Infirmary is a busy level three unit, including surgical, cardiac and neurological specialties. Currently the neonatal Unit at St James is a level one unit.

The role will use highly specialist skills to manage their own complex caseload, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for providing advanced neonatal physiotherapy assessment, advice and interventions with babies who are most at risk of developmental issues in the future, and to support the neonatal unit with promoting and delivering family integrated developmental care.

This is an exciting opportunity to further develop and expand our physiotherapy neonatal service. The post holder will work closely with the other Band 7 Physiotherapists in post.

As part of the wider Children's Physiotherapy team responsibilities, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the paediatric respiratory weekend and out of hours service. There will be training and support opportunities available to ensure competencies. The successful candidate will also be involved in wider leadership and team management of Children's Physiotherapy services;

This post will offer hours up to full time, accepting a minimum of three days covering Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The childrens physiotherapy team is a team of approximately 40 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work across Leeds Childrens Hospital. They have a wide scope of experience and enjoy developing and teaching new members of the team. The team is based on the Leeds General Infirmary site but also covers the Neonatal Unit at St James Hospital. Transport is available to move between sites for staff.

The post holder will work as part of the children's physiotherapy team, providing highly specialised care to support the management of babies and children with neurological development delay from preterm to 2 years.

The post holder will work closely with the Neonatal Multidisciplinary teams to provide assessment and treatment of patients on the Neonatal unit, clinics Nursery and Home and outpatients.

They will provide leadership within the children’s Physiotherapy teams demonstrating a high standard of leadership skills and behaviours.

Based at the Leeds Childrens Hospital, the post holder will support the inpatient therapists and outpatient service for management of these patients and liaise closely with other hospitals and community services for on going management of these patients. The post holder will act as the link person for the families in this service.

Key relationships will be with other physiotherapists at both Leeds and the regional hospitals including the paediatric physiotherapy team, Occupational therapy team , specialist nurses, medical staff, dietician, psychologist, speech and language therapist, play therapist, community services, social services and education services.

The post holder will contribute to the paediatric out of hours service at the Leeds Children’s Hospital.
