Job description
Job responsibilities
We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic Social Workers who have the childs voice at the heart of everything they do to join us in our Assessment Team!
The Assessment Team is the first point of contact for statutory intervention. Our work is dynamic, fast-paced and focused on delivering timely, proportionate responses to children and families at levels 3 and 4 of the Cambridgeshire Levels of Need framework.
We work closely with our Targeted Support Services to ensure that families can be stepped down to early help when appropriate, helping to strengthen relationships and prevent escalation.
We are proud to have created a space for our social care colleagues to have an area to reflect as a team, as well as conducting monthly individual supervisions. We recognise that the job can bring challenges and are proud to offer our colleagues holistic support. You will have the opportunity to be creative with care planning and will have the opportunity to have your ideas and voice heard.
Our team is supported by Childrens Information and Advice Officers (CIAOs) which makes administrative tasks much more manageable.
We currently have a vacancy in our Huntingdon Team based at Scott House in Huntingdon and our South Cambridgeshire Team based at Fawcett House in Cambridge. Job description
Job responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Supervised Contact Service as a Relief Family Time Worker, supporting children and families across Cambridgeshire on an as-needed basis.
The service sits within Childrens Social Care and plays a vital role in enabling children, who cannot currently live with their parents due to safeguarding concerns, to spend safe and meaningful time with their families during court proceedings.
Family Time is often a deeply emotional and complex experience, particularly for children who have experienced trauma. Our role is to support children to maintain safe connections with their birth families, helping them preserve a sense of identity, history and belonging, and to create positive memories, whether or not they eventually return home.
Sessions take place primarily within our dedicated Family Time venues located near children's foster placements. When risk reduces and progress allows, some sessions may move into the community.
As a Relief Family Time Worker, you will provide flexible cover to meet service demands. Current service needs require availability to work Monday to Friday, across both mornings and afternoons. Whilst hours are not guaranteed, flexibility is essential to support the delivery of sessions, some of which may continue until approximately 6pm.
As the role involves travelling between different Family Time locations, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Assistant Service Managers Mel Hayes on 07393 146 794 or at [email protected] or Sreenadh Puthanpurakkal on07780 227 940or at [email protected]
