Neighbourhood Health, Occupational Therapist
Sport for Confidence View all jobs
Posted 16 day(s) ago
Reference: 2423270
Job summary
To lead the development and delivery of an innovative Neighbourhood Health Occupational Therapy model across Castle Point, working collaboratively with local residents, health and social care professionals, leisure providers, voluntary organisations and community partners to reduce health inequalities and improve access to meaningful occupations, physical activity and community participation.
The Occupational Therapist will play a key role in connecting health services with community opportunities, supporting individuals who experience barriers to participation, particularly those living with disabilities, multiple long-term health conditions, poor mental wellbeing, social isolation or other complex health and social needs.
Using core Occupational Therapy skills, clinical reasoning and an occupation-focused approach, the role will provide holistic assessments, co-produced action planning and short-term therapeutic interventions to understand what matters to people, identify barriers to participation and enable individuals to access opportunities that support their health, wellbeing, independence and sense of belonging.
The overarching ambition is to demonstrate how Occupational Therapy, embedded within neighbourhoods and communities, can strengthen prevention, reduce inequalities and create more connected, accessible and sustainable opportunities for people to participate in meaningful activity and community life.
Main duties of the job
Occupational Therapy Assessment and Intervention
- Deliver holistic, person-centred Occupational Therapy assessments to understand individuals' strengths, aspirations, needs and barriers to meaningful participation.
- Manage referrals, assess risk and prioritise individuals requiring support, particularly those experiencing complex health and social needs.
Community Navigation and Enablement
- Support individuals to identify and access meaningful physical activity, leisure, wellbeing and community opportunities across Castle Point.
- Provide practical navigation and confidence-building support to overcome barriers that prevent engagement.
Partnership Working and Neighbourhood Health Development
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with GP practices, Primary Care Networks, social prescribing teams, leisure providers, local authorities and voluntary and community organisations.
- Act as a clinical connector between health services and community opportunities, strengthening pathways and improving access to preventative support.
Workforce Development and Inclusive Practice
- Provide advice, consultation, formal and informal learning opportunities to local professionals, coaches, volunteers and community organisations.
- Support providers to understand barriers to participation, implement reasonable adjustments and develop more accessible and inclusive opportunities.
About us
Sport for Confidence CIC is an Occupational Therapy-led organisation that centres and prioritises the needs of people and communities furthest away from physical activity and sport. We work locally and nationally to narrow the gap in occupational, health and social outcomes, enabling people to participate in ways that are meaningful to their lives.
Our approach brings together the expertise of occupational therapists, the physical activity workforce and people with lived experience. It is person-first, occupation-focused and systems-driven, recognising the relationship between the person, their environment, occupations and participation.
Occupational therapists are central to our practice. This is occupational therapy delivered within community and physical activity settings. Occupational therapists use their professional reasoning and core occupational therapy skills to understand what matters to people, identify barriers to meaningful participation, adapt environments and opportunities, and enable people to engage in the occupations and everyday activities that support their health, wellbeing, independence and sense of belonging.
Our occupational therapists work within everyday community settings, including leisure centres, local communities and primary care. This place-based approach creates opportunities to work proactively and preventatively, address environmental and systemic barriers and support people earlier.

Job summary
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (please change where appropriate e.g. Health Innovation Wessex (HIW) etc) is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Job Title: Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Pharmacist
Contract Type: Permanent
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an ambitious, compassionate and highly motivated pharmacist to join our Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Pharmacist team.
When a baby is born extremely prematurely, a child requires intensive care and a family is facing an exceptionally difficult time, the decisions we make matter. The medicines we use are a critical part of those decisions.
As a Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Pharmacist, you will be at the heart of that care. You'll use your specialist knowledge to influence critical treatment decisions, optimise complex medicines, and help deliver the very best outcomes for babies, children and young people when they need us most. From supporting the tiniest premature babies weighing less than 500 grams to caring for critically ill children and adolescents requiring the most advanced treatments, this is a role where your expertise truly matters.
This is a rare opportunity to work in one of the most rewarding and intellectually stimulating areas of clinical pharmacy, where your expertise can make a profound difference every single day.
About us
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated 'Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.
